Our Home Away from Home
In today’s rough and uncertain times, where change is one’s constant companion, it is refreshing to know that there really is an eating establishment “where everybody knows your name,” just like we found in the television series Cheers.
Commitment to Good Customer Service
That restaurant is Mimo’s Café, located in Uptown Whittier and owned and operated by Ramon Arteaga. His strong work ethic is exemplified in his commitment to good customer service, quality food, clean eating areas, and instilling in his staff the belief that the customer should be treated kindly and respectfully. At Mimo’s, you are regarded as a longtime friend, one who wants to return again and again.
A Full espresso Bar
The history of Mimo’s Café is as colorful as the owner and the employees. It started as a bakery in the late 1980s. Soon after, they started selling cappuccinos and lattes. With the number of customers increasing, Mimo’s expanded the bakery into a coffee shop with a full menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner items. Customers can take advantage of a full Espresso Bar, daily fresh bakery items including biscotti’s, baklavas, coffee cakes, and Cheese Cake Factory desserts.
An American Dream
Ramon brings much love and experience into his business. For several years, he worked as a waiter, all the while dreaming of owning his own restaurant. His dream became reality when he became the new owner of Mimo’s Café in the late 1990s. Drawing on his many years of experience and passion for quality customer service, Ramon has made Mimo’s Café an exemplary model of the American dream. When asked why he chose Whittier as his business location, Ramon responded, “Whittier just seemed perfect, and Uptown has great foot traffic and an old-fashioned charm.” Even Ramon’s son has become involved as a regular employee and is just as energetic and cordial as his father.
Outdoor Dining; a Relaxed Ambiance
Running an eating establishment can be quite difficult and challenging. Success is never guaranteed. However, Mimo’s Café has consistently provided a sense of commitment to customers, a positive work ethic, a great relaxed ambience, an open-air patio, and affordable prices. These qualities have made Mimo’s Café a success.
Relax with Your Friends, Family and Your Dog
There is a quaint charm to Mimo’s that endears it to every age group, be it a three year old child or an 83 year old retiree. The patio affords the opportunity to be outside, enjoy a great meal, relax and enjoy observing the world go by. Since Mimo’s is dog-friendly, pets enjoy the patio ambience as well as their owners. On any given day, one can hear animated political discussions at one table, while just a few feet away, two young men play chess in deafening silence.
Deliveries in Uptown
The Uptown community is very appreciative of Mimo’s Café, since it delivers orders to nearby businesses, and they regularly offer monthly specials and discount coupons featured in local publications.Eclectic Menu
The menu offers eclectic food choices in all categories including Mexican dishes, American burgers, sandwiches, Mediterranean plates, smoothies, espresso, bakery treats, ice cream, yogurt, and many other choices. Some of the hottest sellers are the many-flavored Jones drinks and good old-fashioned Bubble-Up.
Where Everybody Knows Your Name
The bottom line is that Ramon and his staff take enormous pride in the quality and consistency of the preparations of all the menu items. They are passionate about customer service and getting to know their patrons. They strive to maintain a place where customers keep returning on a daily basis to a home away from home - “where everybody knows your name.” |
