That makes her boutique all the more wonderful because it means she stocks the latest items, from the hottest products from Sanrio to the newest limited editions. MaryAnne is always looking for what she knows will appeal to her customers.

Created in 1974 by the Japanese company, Sanrio, Hello Kitty's charm is appealing to everyone. It would seem unlikely that in a culture that reveres the simplicity of a rock garden and understated sparseness in design, something that exudes cuteness would become prevalent. But perhaps Hello Kitty's appeal lies not just in her cuteness but in her  simplicity, as well. So while she may not have the serenity of a Zen garden, she is simple and understated, herself.

In Japan, “Hello Kitty” is as significant as Mickey Mouse is to us, in America.  If you take a close look at Kitty you will notice her mouth is not obvious because “she listens with her heart”.  Innocence, a sense of play, and love are part of her timeless appeal - all things we all need more of in our world today.
