Here you will find some information and a legend to help you with some of the functions found on ShopWhittier.com pages.

Note:  When you first visit ShopWhittier.com, it may take some time to load because of all the graphics and media. Also you may need to update Adobe Flash Player to the latest version if you are not seeing the slide shows. If you see big open spots with nothing at the beginning or in the middle of an article or an area of blinking shapes, an out of date Flash Player could be the problem. And lastly, you may need to update your Web Browser to the latest version.

 

This is the Site's User Tool Bar. It has several tools on it. Descriptions for each are below. Go ahead. Touch 'em. It's fun! When you do, give the site a few seconds to reload, if needed.

Expands the body portion of the page

Lets you make the written content appear as dark text on a light background (some of us find this easier on the eyes)

  This allows you to make the written content appear as light text on a dark background - our site's default

 

 

These are the Article Tools - Availability varies.

Following this symbol is the Day, Date and Time (24 hour clock) that the article was posted. There may also be a "Last Updated" time at the end of the article.

This little guy is the "author" icon, and to the right it will say who contributed or posted the article. If the author is different than the person who posted the story, the author(s) will be credited in the body of the story.

Generates an PDF document right from the site. You can save it and print it out, in total, to share with others.

This is where you will find Featured Businesses with Profiles on ShopWhittier.com

If you click on the image that's facing forward, you will be directed to the Profile of that business. If you click on any of the other images, they will slide into the forward facing position so you can go to that link. Fun, isn't it?

If you are a Whittier Business, create a Username and Password, in the section that looks like this. After you do that, you can add your free listing to the Business Directory. When upgrades are available, we will notify everyone who is already signed up. Your e-mail address will be confirmed by the site. This will also allow you to make changes to  your free listing.

We will not be providing your information to outsiders. It will only be used to contact you with regard to your listing, and to notify you of important changes to the site.

The Slide Show Controls

These are the tools that appear in the slide show

Note: When you put your mouse cursor over the slide show images, captions will appear if available.

This is the "Gallery" symbol. Click here to see more slide shows in this gallery. Sometimes there is only one slide show available and there won't be a gallery symbol.

Click here to go back a "page". It takes you back to the last set of thumbnails. If it is dimmed, you are on the first set of thumbnails.

Go forward a "page". It takes you to the next set of thumbnails,  If it is dimmed, then you are on the last set of thumbnails

Go back to the last image.

Go forward one image. Once you use the + and - buttons, you are now controlling the slide show manually and it will not advance automatically.

Pause the slide show.

Play. You will only see this if the slide show is paused. It will not advance automatically if you see this symbol

Full screen mode. If you have a huge or high definition monitor, it might not fill the screen all the way.  Also if you want to see the captions (if any), you must click within the slide show, once in full screen mode, to make it the active window. Then mousing over the image will show you the caption.  Hit "esc"or the corresponding symbol (similar to this one) to go back to the web page or original slide show.
